A Hotpoint FF175BP fridge freezer was the initial source of the devastating fire in London's Grenfell Tower and the government has ordered an immediate examination of the unit by technical experts to establish the cause. Interestingly this particular unit had NOT been subject to product recalls.
According to the London Fire Brigade, there could be millions of faulty appliances in homes across the UK.
Therefore, it is wise to check if your appliances have been subject to a recall or are in need of modification.
There are various recall websites, but registermyappliance.org.uk not only allows you to check your appliances, but also allows to register your white goods and appliances, sending alerts of any recall or repairs programme.
The government's own product recall website can be accessed here below too...

In addition to registering your appliances, please remember to follow the usual standard safety advice of not overloading plugs, ensuring sockets are not damaged and to check cables and leads are in good condition.
